To be honest, organization is not the top priority on my homestead. I like things that are practical and save me time. But not everything is in it’s place.
If you have been following me on instagram, you know that we have been working on garage organization since the first of the year. For me, a garage is somewhere you keep stuff. It doesn’t have to be pretty. You won’t see my garage floors with a nice paint on them.
3 Garage Storage Hacks to Tame Your Mess:
My husband really felt like he needed some major storage in our RV garage, so he and the boys built this awesome storage shelf.
It was also a great time to teach the boys valuable carpentry skills.
Here is the finished product. As you can tell, we still have plenty of room to add more boxes and stuff in the future. Here are the plans for these shelves by Ana White.
Hooks are a great way to organize stuff on the wall. These bikes take so much room up on the garage floor, but on the wall they don’t.
I got these hooks here, and they are so handy. The boys can put them up without too much trouble.
I also use the same hooks for cords so they are up out of the way as well.
My husband built this work bench to keep some of the little stuff (screws, hammers, paint brushes, etc.) contained. I think he did a wonderful job! Here are the plans from The Family Handyman that he used to build it.
I’m hoping that by implementing these 3 things, our garage will be more useful and functional. After all, isn’t that what a garage is for?
