School will be starting in a few weeks, which means we have to get organized!
We need to figure out how to translate our real food lifestyle that we’ve been eating at home to on-the-go meals that our kids will love (and eat).
I am by no means an expert in this field. I am really lucky that the small country school my kids went to for elementary had real food meals cooked fresh everyday. I know that is very rare (there are only about 40-50 kids in the school).
In middle school, my kids had the choice to eat the cafeteria meals or bring food from home. They got a little bit of both. I wish I had started taking the time to make healthy school lunches for them each day. It was hit or miss, and that was my fault.
Now they are all in high school and prefer to eat out for lunch. It’s the “cool” thing to do. They can also walk to Walmart and buy food there.
I’m not crazy about this arrangement, but I don’t want to be the food police. So they get healthy food at home for breakfast and dinner and pick their own lunch. You gotta pick your battles!
But for those will little kids, it is best to start when they are young with healthy school lunches.
So the question becomes, “How do I find healthy school lunch ideas that aren’t boring?”
That’s the question we are going to answer today!
